After reading about Calibre in some threads here, and checking the Calibre site, I decided to download it. However, my McAfee security program brought up a message that it included a Trojan, and wouldn't let it through.

I found a bit of discussion about this online in a Calibre forum, with the developer stating this was a "false positive" and that the program is safe. But I don't know if I can trust this.

Has anyone else had this happen when you tried to install or update the Calibre program? If so, did you go ahead and install it anyway by removing the security alert? If you did, did you have any problems on your computer afterwards?

The program looks very interesting to me, and I'd really like to use it if I could do so without causing other systems problems.

Betsy,
Thank you for testing this out. This is the site I was using: http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/download. The site itself was labeled as safe by McAfee site advisor.

When you mentioned version 5.10, I thought that version number didn't look familiar. I tried downloading this a few days ago, on 5/1, and I checked again tonight and that was the day the newest version (5.10 ) arrived. I may have had a problem with an earlier version, so I thought I'd try installing the program again tonight. This time I ran a McAfee scan first, and found no problems, so I did the installation and it worked.

It's a bit late, so I'll start trying to use this tomorrow, but thanks for your help, and for Forster's recommendation of Calibre on another thread.
