Progress Meter for Forum Signature

2625 Views 13 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Marilyn Peake
I have had several people ask me about the progress meter in my signature, so I'm posting this here in case more people are interested.

I got it here: http://www.critiquecircle.com/wordmeterbuilder.asp
(Thanks to MyraScott for pointing it out to me!)

But the code there isn't made for this type of forum so I rewrote it:
Code:
[IMG]http://www.critiquecircle.com/wordmeter.asp?col=blue&curr=0&goal=90000&" border=0[/IMG]55%
You can change the color to whatever basic color you want. (Just try a color. If it doesn't work, try another. I know red, purple, green, orange, etc. exist. Light blue doesn't.)
Change the current and goal numbers, and update the percent, or if you don't want to do percents, you can remove the 55% entirely instead of changing the number. :)

Enjoy. :-*

Well apparently someone heard we wanted progress bars. :)

How do you use this thing?
[meter]50/100[/meter]
Ooh, shiny new thing to play with.

Actually what I really really want is one of those archery targets that you get on Nanowrimo. I find that brilliant for motivating progress, as I always want to move into the next inner ring from the outer ones. Is there anyone here clever enough to work out how I can get one of those?

You just put the percent finished there, so it would be
[nobbc][meter]50[/meter][/nobbc]
to show
[meter]50[/meter]

EDIT: Harvey announced it here:

The easiest way is to use the Author Sig tool; it's one of the options there for things that you can put in your forum signature.

I don't think I've seen those -- can you point me to an example of it?

Word Count Widgets: http://nanowrimo.org/widgets

Word Count API: http://nanowrimo.org/wordcount_api
Well. I managed to miss the big announcement. :)
I had been spreading the word on the one I'm using because people kept asking me.
But now there's this one. :)

I still like the one I'm using better because I can do word count of word target instead of percent.
But now both options are there and I'm happy that you can use whichever one you want.

Is there any chance they will add different colors eventually? Number one reason I'd keep using mine over that one is I hate orange haha :)
Yes, stay tuned for a v2.0 that'll include color options. :)
Hi Harvey, i couldn't work out how to copy the image, so I saved a screenshot at link below. The target on the right hand side thing. The arrow moves in towards the bulls eye when you update your word count. It's fab!

Ah, that's a fun one. Thanks for posting the screenshot!
Harvey:

Oooo Awesome. Will stay tuned indeed. Make sure there's a great blue! ;)
You get bonus points and cookies if there's one the color of my hair!
Thanks Arshness! I always thought that the bar, and the blue hair, was adorable! Now I've added the bar to my sig!  :-*

Why thank you. ^^ I like your purple one.

I vote we call the blue version of the progress bar "Shei's Hair Blue" and that shall be the official name of the color on this forum.
*sage nod*

Now I'm going to run back to Scrivener before people start throwing sticks at me.
This is so much fun! Sooooo many wonderful choices! Which one? Which one? *head explodes*
