I am planning a relaunch for my current book and finally turning it into a series. To do so, I've updated cover, blurb and I'm in the process of editing and expanding the original book and have a relaunch date for February 14. I've stacked up promos and have a couple of NL swaps as way promotion.
Thing is, in order for the book not to flop as it did originally I planned a rapid release schedule for the following 2 books in my series (a continuation and a prequel, currently on pre-order), one for March 20 and one for April 30. I'm in the process of planning the promo campaign for those as well, but here's where my question comes in. I've never promoted a series continuation before. Do I promote the new books that are being released or do I keep focusing in book 1 instead and hope some sales trickle into the new books? Or do I promote both new book and first-in-series simultaneously?
