I've noticed that when many authors talk about their success in eBook marketing, they frequently bring up the importance of keywords, although they rarely provide concrete examples of what they've done.  This is an area in which I have little to no expertise, and would appreciate some guidance.

When I set up my keywords on Amazon, I tried to use ones which might best describe my books. These include Mystery, Hard-boiled Mystery, Detective, Crime, Los Angeles, Football, Noir, etc. I have no idea whether these are effective or not, if i should be more specific, less specific, or if it really even matters. I've modified my keywords periodically, but have not seen a measurable change in sales.

If anyone has any thoughts on this subject and could provide either their own examples (or suggestions for mine), that would be greatly appreciated.
