When submitting a book review request to a book blogger/reviewer what should I include in the request? Is it generally comparable to a query letter where I should include a brief synopsis of the book along with the request? Or should I just simply request a review?

I'm really new to all of this and still learning.

Thanks for the help!

Hi Olivia,

Most book bloggers have their own review policies with guidelines of what to submit. Best to check at the top of each site.

But if they don't then I'd just keep it simple - a polite request with a short pitch. Good luck! :)
That's the type of thing I was wondering so I guess I could have been more concise. I was wondering what to do when a reviewer doesn't give any specific guidelines. Thanks!

We always include a "fact sheet." Some might call it a "press sheet."

It is a single page that includes a little background on the author, his/her other works, any sales milestones...that sort of thing. A few good single line reviews don't hurt either.

If you have already been featured on other media, you might want to include that as well.

Try and put something in the author's background that isn't on Amazon or other public source. Bloggers often like having unique information about the author.
