I have the SoCal version.  It won't replace the GPS, but since I'll always have the Kindle with me, and we often get lost when we're in San Diego, it might come in handy, and for $1.59...

I'm impressed with the legibility of the map as displayed in Leslie's link.

I ordered a sample and it gives you the coverage of a not very detailed map. If you are traveling on the large highways only it might be slightly useful, but in my opinion it is more of an inexpensive cute toy map than anything very useful.

After playing around with the atlas, I'm a little disappointed. It's better than nothing, but it's so tiny that it's hard to read. But the price is right, so I'm not complainin'.
