Little delicate (or not so?) canaries love to bathe in cold water -- the colder the better. Ice water!!
Uranium was named after the newly-discovered planet Uranus. Later elements Neptunium and Plutonium followed the same naming pattern.
Though Pluto later lost full planetary status, there has been no move to demote Plutonium.

Turkey buzzards get car sick.
This from a falconer in Atlanta, Ga. She was transporting a turkey buzzard to a school for a birds of prey education appearance. So apparently, it yarked in her car. I don't even want to think about how she got the smell out.

One Arctic Tern, banded as a chick, left Great Britain in summer 1982 and reached Australia in about 3 months (that's about 14,000 miles). One of the longest journeys ever recorded for a bird. I watched these dudes when I lived on a lake on the Oregon Coast one year. They were fishing madly, and then went on their way. These guys were SERIOUS.
