I received an e-mail today pointing out that the weekends of July 2011 fall in an interesting way:

First Friday - Sunday is July 1, 2, 3
Second Fri - Sunday is July 8, 9, 10
Third weekend is        July 15, 16, 17
Fourth weekend is      July 22, 23, 24
Fifth weekend is          July 29, 30, 31

This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens
Once every 823 years.

Also, this year we are going to experience four unusual dates.

1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 and that's not all...

Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born - now add
The age you will be this year.  The results will be 111 for everyone in whole world.

Anyone else find this kind of stuff fascinating?

I'm confused: July always has 31 days. Whenever July 1 falls on a Friday, the above pattern will be repeated. On average, July 1 should be a Friday every 7 years (it varies a bit due to Leap Years). So why only every 823 years? (Or was that supposed to be every 8.23 years, which sounds much more likely to me?)

Note: This won't work if you were born after 1999 or before 1900 -- not that there are probably a lot of either group reading this. ;)

Well, that's what I get for just reposting something without doing any checking myself! You are correct, it happens again in 2016, then 2022 and 2033 (that is as far as I went in the perpetual calendar). :-[ :-[

I feel better now, knowing my brain hasn't completely blown all its logic circuits (yet).
