Same with me...
I have always wanted tatoo, but am too chicken... I hate needles!!
It really didn't hurt. And since it was on my shoulder, I couldn't see what she was doing, anyway. LOL

Leslie, I think my kids would freak too if I got one... and I would NEVER tell my mom!! :)
The thing is, in the summer, with tee-shirts and all, you can see the edge of it. One of these days she'll notice it, I suspect. We'll see.

man or woman? I have no clue so I am going to guess totally randomly. Billy Bob Thornton?
It's a man and no, not Billy Bob Thornton. I can't stand him, I'd never get one of his tattoos!

Here's another hint: he'd played a leading role in one of the summer blockbuster movies, probably the biggest blockbuster of the summer.

Ding! Ding! Ding! You got it...

Heath got a maple leaf tattoo on his right hand right after he finished filming Brokeback Mountain, I think to commemorate the experience.

This movie didn't even register on my radar screen. LOL.

That's a very special homage to Heath, Leslie. Good for you. Do you know why Heath had a maple leaf - any significance to it that you know of? (A Canadian connection, maybe?)

My daughter (age 18, and in college) got a tattoo on her hip last week. She wasn't sure how I'd react to the news. I don't know yet either - I'm still reacting!

She designed the tattoo with her mom (my ex) and they both got the same tattoo. I do like the notion of that.

Even though the story of Brokeback Mountain takes place in Wyoming and Texas, the movie itself was filmed in Alberta, Canada. The cast and crew spent about 6 to 8 weeks there and that is where Heath fell in love with his co-star, Michelle Williams. I think the maple leaf was to commemorate his time in Canada, filming the movie, and falling in love.

My son managed to wait until he was 20 to get his--the state of Maine on his left flank. It looks good but as he kiddingly says, he'll need to stay thin for the rest of his life.

That sounds nice. I think they have really beautiful designs these days...a far cry from the heart and roses "Mom" tattoos of the past. I kept mine simple but I have pondered adding color to it sometime down the road.

Geographically-speaking, shouldn't Maine have gone on his right flank...?

With the Grand Canyon to the west of that?

I'll be seeing my oldest daughter this week - we're all heading to Georgia for Thanksgiving. So I think I will see the tattoo at that time. I'll report in right away. I may need some group therapy from these boards. :)
