I love them, too. They always have a happy ending.  ;D

I remember a few years ago when we were going through some tough financial problems someone gave me a huge box of Harlequins and they were all I had to read for awhile there. I've never bought one but I did download all the free ones they had awhile back and have even read a couple.

I saw a report on tv that also stated that when people are in economical problems they like to read romance novels, i don't get it. Maybe we just need some love.

The appeal of romance novels (coming from an ex-romance fiction editor) is that, no matter what hell the protagonists are put through, there is always a happy resolution and a happily-ever-after ending.  I'll take a well written romance novel over anything else every time.
