I don't see a #SampleSunday post. I know it's a holiday but I'll be tweeting for #SampleSunday for anyone who cares to join me. :)

My tweet is:

@JRTomlinAuthor Wrai is a gambler, but exactly what is he wiling to risk? #SampleSunday Laying the Odds http://t.co/4jjQtkn #ebook #fantasy

It's still Saturday in Arizona, but I'm willing to be ahead of schedule for once ;).
Mine is:

In Every Perfect Life, There Comes a Time for A Dose of Reality-On SALE-Only $.99-through Memorial Day! http://t.co/XxRXCug #Sample Sunday

I'm beginning to retweet now ;D

Interesting stuff, so far.

Hint: the more of a sample you offer, the further we get hooked in!  ;)

Is 2 chapters enough or should I go to three? Thanks!

Up to date on RT's, going to bed and will pick up again in the am.

WriterGurl1, I seem to recall Chapter 2 of yours, but Chapter 1 was new to me. The length as it stands now seems about right.

The #SampleSunday idea may not map to the author's decision, when they upload their novel to Amazon, about how much of it they'll offer in the free sample. If everyone's #SampleSunday offering were that long, I wouldn't have time to read more than a couple. However, I think the sample should be long enough to give the reader a taste of the author's style, and, more important, a clue as to the major issue/conflict/problem faced by the protagonist.

Heck, folks, if you have a hook, why not post that part of your story? That's what a hook's for, after all.

Chris, I'm going to leave yours for the morning. I'm too bleary-eyed to do it justice tonight!  :-[

Ok ! , this forum is pretty cool. I am new to samplesunday and so is my novella " Tear Avenger " a tragic story about a young Russian girl who , by the hands of human traffickers is sold into prostitution. Abused , raped and strung out is the path of her life . But on the horizon stands hope and soon all the bloody tears are avenged , one dragon and one monster at a time. Read an exerpt of the action on my blog.

HI Joshua, a little tip for you, make your sample in the form of a tweet. Look at the other examples on this thread.

Include #samplesunday and your blog/excerpt plus your twitter name (optional) and PLZ RT at the end. Remember to make it 140 characters long. Use hootsuite or tweetdeck to shrink your links to give you more room in your tweet.

Hope that helps.  ;)

No problem Joshua, we're here to help each other.

Construct a tweet, add it to this thread and then other people will tweet it for you.

The deal is that you go through this thread and tweet all the others and of course read the samples when you have the time.  ;)

Just another tip for everyone:

While it is good to put your username in the tweet, don't put the username at the start.

When you commence a tweet with a username, it is only visible to people who follow BOTH you and the user in question. It's best to put the name somewhere in the middle of the tweet (it can be anywhere, just not the very start of the tweet and it will work). I only find this out this week when Nathan Bransford wrote about it here: http://blog.nathanbransford.com/2011/05/how-to-use-twitter-reply.html

So, I have sent out JR Tomlin's tweet, but I have modified it from:

@JRTomlinAuthor Wrai is a gambler, but exactly what is he wiling to risk? #SampleSunday Laying the Odds http://t.co/4jjQtkn #ebook #fantasy

To this, so all my followers will see it:

#SampleSunday Wrai is a gambler, but what's he willing to risk? Laying the Odds by @JRTomlinAuthor http://t.co/4jjQtkn #ebook #fantasy

I had to modify it slightly to get it to fit - I hope that's ok.
