Anyone know if you can place a Scrivener manuscript in cloud program such as Dropbox?

        Thanks

Of course you can. I put my projects directly into Dropbox from Scrivener so I'm always backedup to cloud. :)
Yes. Go to "file_sync" and select "with external folders" and select your Dropbox folder and now your Scrivener files will be in sync with your Dropbox folder. You can also select Scrivener to backup to Dropbox in "file_backup".
Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but I keep a copy on my laptop, another on Dropbox, and another on Box.com.  I name the file "title 0510 2015," and while it sounds cumbersome, takes less than thirty seconds to complete.  Once a week I put another copy on an external hard drive.  I can't imagine how upsetting it would be to lose months of work, so it's worth it to me to do everything possible to take that possibility off the table.

You're not alone. I backup Scrivener on my computer using Time Machine, as well as to Dropbox, and on an external hard drive. Once it's all setup it's done automatically so it's not as tedious as it sounds. ;D
All of the devices that you're using w/ Dropbox & Scrivener need to have Scrivener installed on them though.
Thanks for this post, I didn't realize I could sync to Dropbox. Done! I'll also sync to Drive
Even better than Dropbox with Scrivener for me has been Simplenote with Scrivener, which someone on Twitter clued me in on. Simplenote (which is free), can be synced with Scrivener, so that you can access your manuscript via smartphone app and web browser. It has helped me get SO many additional words in.

Not quite.

If you are using the Mac version of Scrivener you can use the Sync-External Folder feature to get your files into Dropbox as RTF files. Then, you can use any text editor you want on your phone, tablet, PC, or whatever to read, write and edit. You don't need Scrivener on any of the other devices.

This is quite separate from having your Scrivener files resident in Dropbox for use by any other Scrivener equipped device.

Sadly, the Windows version does not have this feature yet.
I want to say it doesn't work with ALL cloud sync programs. I'm pretty sure Google drive has issues.
I use Dropbox without issue.

In the paranoid division, I keep a copy on two local computers and back up manually to Dropbox AND Google Drive every night.
I found really great way to back up to the cloud using www.mega.co.nz  --gives you 50 GB storage for free, is encrypted and has a really intuitive sync app that allows you to upload entire folders at once instead of having to select individual files. It also syncs in the background and works on Windows, Mac and Linux.

I know dropbox won't allow you to sync entire folders and I am pretty sure GDrive won't either, at least on Linux it won't.
