The critics love my new supernatural thriller Season of the Wolf.

"Season Of The Wolf will go a long way to further Jeff Mariotte's reputation as one of today's best writers of horror and dark fiction. It is highly recommended."

--TT Zuma,

"Season of the Wolf is full of twists that will surprise readers time and time again. With his rich use of description, Mariotte has created a story which will grab the attention of readers and will have them hooked until the very last page; hoping for the survival of characters that they will come to love, even when the odds are against them."

--Rebecca Lovatt,

"I could hear echos of Steven King and Dean Koontz while reading Season of the Wolf and, for this genre, there's no better praise than that."

--Lori Spier, Goodreads

"Season of the Wolf is a pulse-pounding supernatural thriller with a message, and a whole lot of carnage … so release your inner Wolfen, learn a thing or two about the world you live in, and pray you don't become prey."

--Patrick Heffernan, Mysterious Galaxy

While it's my 46th published novel (and 50th book overall), it's my first with my new publisher, DarkFuse (a very prestigious small press specializing in dark genre fiction), and I'm excited about it. I'm holding a contest to help spread the word (details here).

Here's what the publisher says: When Alex Converse, heir to a coal company fortune, visits Silver Gap, Colorado to make an environmentally themed documentary film, he's hoping to change some minds and to soothe his own troubled conscience. But there's more going on-in his mind, and in Silver Gap-than Alex knows. People are dying and women are disappearing. Some of the killers have fur, fangs, and claws-but some don't. What is Alex's connection to the missing women? Will anyone live long enough to find out? And what's up with those wolves?

Season of the Wolf is a heart-stopping supernatural thriller about climate change, the human capacity for evil, and the epic struggle between a small town's citizens and impossible creatures from the dawn of history.

I hope you'll take a look, and I hope you'll enjoy all the wolfy fun!

Welcome to KindleBoards, and congratulations on the book! :)

This is just a friendly reminder that KindleBoards is a Readers and Kindle Fan forum. Authors are always welcome to post anywhere but, as you browse the 'boards, please keep in mind that self-promotion, of any sort, is ONLY allowed here in the Book Bazaar.

A brief recap of our rules follows: (Note that this doesn't mean you've done anything wrong; we just want you to have a ready reference, so post this note in every thread. :) )

--Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it as we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information. You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice).

--We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here

--While you may respond to member posts to your thread at any time, you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days. Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then.

--We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link. Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead.

--Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows. This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles! Please note that putting link information in the body of your posts outside the Book Bazaar constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post. For information on more ways to promote here on KindleBoards, be sure to check out this thread:

Thanks, Ann!
I've added Season of the Wolf to my Authorgraph page, so anybody who buys the ebook can get it digitally signed there.

Also, here are details of a Season of the Wolf contest, with lots of great, wolfy prizes!
I'm taking part in a fascinating roundtable discussion this week at the International Thriller Writers association's website, The Big Thrill. The topic is Location, Location, Location. Here's the writeup: "In real estate they say there are only three important things when buying a house: location, location, location. Is the location of a novel as relevant? Join ITW Members Jeffrey J. Mariotte, Jennifer Moss, Heywood Gould, Julia Pomeroy, Linda O. Johnston, Ralph Pezzullo, Lori Armstrong and Robert S. Levinson to find out!"

Among other things, I'll be talking about the Colorado mountain town of Silver Gap, where Season of the Wolf is set. Come by and join the conversation!
There are some more new reviews of Season of the Wolf up. Mysteries Galore says (in part): "With outstanding characterization, a complex plot, and the hypnotic voice of a storyteller, Season of the Wolf is definitely an outstanding thriller. This is one novel where you can't wait to get to the end and then are sorry that the book ends."

And author Marsheila Rockwell (who, full disclosure, is such a good friend that she wouldn't ordinarily review my work, and vice versa) says: "I wanted to recommend it to those of you who like horror/suspense/thrillers mixed with a little bit of romance and magic. It was a riveting read that I had a hard time putting down (even to answer pressing emails), but when I closed the book I had a big smile on my face. The ending in particular was pitch perfect."

If you haven't picked up a copy yet, what are you waiting for?

Side note: Not a Kindle book by any means, but the ritziest, most collectible editions of my work ever: The Border Trilogy in signed, limited edition, slipcased hardcovers. It's fancy. Check it.
