Hi,

My sales were sure lagging on my 'baby' the first book I wrote: A Murder in the Grand Canyon.  I decided to lower the price and see what happens.  I kept the price up through misguided loyalty to my first 'accomplishment.'  This book actually turned out to the the first in a series (two so far) the second being A Murder at Mimi's.  Has anyone else had any luck by lowering the price on their books?  I'm contemplating putting the books on Smashwords as well.  Any ideas there?  Thanks for reading.

I understand not wanting to lower your price. I have found that occassionally having a sale can boost ratings, but be prepared to take a hit to your bank account. In the long run, I've found it to be worth it...there is nothing more powerful (IMHO) than Amazon's "also boughts". I would definitely consider other sales channels like Smashwords and PubIt! through Barnes & Noble. It never hurts to have your book available in more places. epublishing is such a roller coaster that sometimes you simply have to throw your hands up and enjoy the ride. Best of luck to you.

I hope it works out great for you.

I know my 0.99 book is outselling the others, but you do need to sell six times more to make the same amount.

But it may be worth it to get a boost!

I don't really know, but I'd be interested in hearing how it works out for you, if you don't mind sharing (in general terms) how effective the low price is.

I published my book mid-April and was selling 4-5 per day at 99 cents...then in last week's "big slow down" I sold 0 for three days.  Then since i wasn't selling anything on BN, I lowered the price there to see if I could get some sales.  It worked for a minute and I sold 20 copies over the weekend, then back to 0-1 a day this week.

But Amazon price matched and I have been back to selling 4-7 a day...now, I have no idea if that's because of the 99 cents or if my sales came back.  ???

Hard to know!

I dropped the price on my book to $4.99 and haven't changed it since.  The book is selling and I decided not to lower it any further for the time being.  When the sequel comes out, I might put it on sale then.  Please do let us know how it works out for you.
