Some help with inserting links into WP post please :)

I seem to be having an enormous amount of trouble inserting hyperlinks into my WP posts. I have a WP account hosted with my web provider so it isn't the free version. I hit the link button and the two little <a> appeat and I insert the link between the two, so far so good. When I check the post the links and their text aren't there. I've even tried publishing then going to my site from a google search but even live the links don't appear.
I'm finding a little frustrating since I don't any have any links to my Amazon books and I also do reviews for other indies and can't get any of their links to appear either.
Any help from fellow WP users would be grat KBoarders :D

Maybe spell out WordPress in your thread title and you'll get more responses? Sorry, I'm not a WordPress user, so I don't know the answer.
I have both self-hosted (not free) and WP-hosted (free) Wordpress sites and pressing CTRL-K on either of them is a handy shortcut to make a link.

If that doesn't work for you, it might be your theme, or an outdated version of WP. Sounds kind of like you don't have the current interface, but hard to be sure without more deets.

Thanks
Do you know how I can go about updating my Wordpress, I'm using the zombie apocalypse theme, apart from the links everything else seems to work fine :D
I'm no WP expert at all, and only started self-hosting a few months ago, but until someone with more knowledge/experience chimes in...

Did CTRL-K work for you? If not, can you tell us which version of Wordpress you have installed? If you go to the Dashboard, and scroll down to the very bottom, it should say "Version X.X" in small writing in the very bottom right-hand corner.

You might have an older version installed which could be causing issues.
Go to text view in your editor and and add in this code....

Link text on page

Change YOUR LINK URL to the url of the page you want to take the visitor, for example http://kboards.com. Don't forget the http bit, it' really important.

Hope that helps.
Go to Youtube for videos on how to use Wordpress. Or Google the problem you have. There will be help there always!

This.

It's probably a theme issue. I have one theme that absolutely refuses to add images from the media library, and I simply hardcode them in the HTML view (not the prettified default view, it doesn't show the post as it will appear on the screen anyway, you use "preview post" for that)
Success!
Thanks for your valuable help guys, now I don't know if this will work for text based links but what I did was go to the media library added the Amazon logo and the link to my buy page...result..perfect link.
I did try the ctrl k thing and I nearly freaked when it just reduced my page screen to microscopic prportions lol. Also the <a> didn't work so I think everyone maybe correct about my theme not supporting the links in text function..all good I mainly need to add the publishing logos for my books and reviews I do on other indie work.
My site is coming along nicely thanks to all my Kboarder friends ;D
