I may be evil, but I cannot stand "Cat in the Cradle." I even ranted about it in a blog post. In my mind, the son grew up to be nothing like his father.

Think about it: the son is home taking care of his new job (supporting his family) and caring for his sick children with his wife--as he SHOULD BE--when absentee Dad decides to show up and spend time with him. If the son had LEFT his wife with the sick kids and his work duties to have lunch with Dad he'd be a total JERK.

Okay, with that off my chest . . . :D

I grew up singing "I'm So Glad When Daddy Comes Home." It's a song the kids sing in our church.

Here's a YouTube video of some sisters singing it (the tune's not quite there, but it gives you the idea, and the girls are stinkin' cute!)

(Lyrics below)

I'm so glad when Daddy comes home,
Glad as I can be.
I clap my hands and shout for joy
and climb upon his knee.
Throw my arms around his neck,
Hug him tight like this.
Pat his cheeks and give him what?
A great big kiss!

Cinderella--Stephen Curtis Chapman (Got all chocked up and bawled my eyes out the first time I heard it...at work of all places, where I'm supposed to be tough.  LOL )
Papa Don't Preach--Madonna (LOL)
Landslide--Fleetwood Mac (Stevie Nicks wrote that for her father.)
Daddy's Little Girl--Don't know who sings it but OMG does that song make me bawl like a baby!
Just the two of us--Will Smith
The theme from Courtship of Eddie's Father..."People let me tell you about my best friend!" cute song.  Corny but cute! :)
The one that goes"My Dad...Now there is a man..." I think that was by Ricky Nelson, but I could be wrong.
Butterfly Kisses--Bob Carlisle.  Sacharine sweet, but nice "wedding song"

Here's a song about a father:  (not a very nice father)

Janie's Got a Gun - Aerosmith

Janie's got a gun
Janie's got a gun
Her whole world's come undone
From lookin' straight at the sun
What did her daddy do?
What did he put you through?
They said when Janie was arrested
they found him underneath a train
But man, he had it comin' Now that Janie's got a gun
she ain't never gonna be the same.

Janie's got a gun
Janie's got a gun
Her dog day's just begun
Now everybody is on the run
Tell me now it's untrue.
What did her daddy do?
He raped a little bitty baby
The man has got to be insane
They say the spell that he was under the lightning and the
thunder knew that someone had to stop the rain

Janie's got a gun
Janie's got a gun
Her dog day's just begun
Now everybody is on the run
What did her daddy do?
It's Janie's last I.O.U.
She had to take him down easy and put a bullet in his brain
She said 'cause nobody believes me. The man was such a sleeze.
He ain't never gonna be the same.

That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine has been a favorite of mine for years. My father had it on a 78 that I used to play when I was a kid.
