SQUEE! A dream is now within reach!

My increase in sales as always been slow 'n steady.  No thousand units moved every month for me!  I write short stories so it's self-inflicted  8)

As a way to keep myself mentally positive I established for myself small royalty milestones.  My first one ever was to just get one sale a day on ANY channel.  After that it was to earn enough to pay my Netflix bill.  A few more in between and now I'm heading towards my latest...

I made over $100 in royalties this month!  I've been bordering for awhile, earning $50-80 every month since the summer.  But December pushed me over the 3 digit mark.

Why this is significant for me?

I teach the violin privately.  I charge each student $130 every month.  Teaching is limiting in that I can only work during certain hours of the day.  The amount I can make has a theoretical cap unless I just constantly raise my rates.  If I make $130+ in royalties it's like having another student.  So psychologically this is huge for me!

So for those of you stressing over a decrease in sales for the month... don't.  Seriously.  It all balances out in the end.  Look at your entire year.  Are you making the same amount now as you were at the beginning of the year?  If you see a positive change, you're on the right track.

More sales for authors is always good news.  8)
Congrats! I write a lot of short fiction, so this is encouraging. ;)
Congrats! :) I hope you'll just keep seeing an increase!

I don't ever expect to make millions from short fiction. But I do strongly feel that we short fiction writers can take care of a good chunk of bills from our writing.

Given enough time. :p
Woo Hoo!
Yay!!!!
So happy for you:)
Super, Alain! Maybe you can add another one or two virtual "students" this year. :D

Exxxxactly. I think it's reasonable. By the end of this year, I could reasonably see myself making car payments with virtual "students." Or at least a good chunk of a car payment.
From one short writer to another, congratulations!
I hear the music playing for you.  Who knows?  You could stumble on a brilliant protege any day now.
Congrats, Alain! I love your covers! Do you do that yourself?

Some of the ones I have for sale I did do myself. The ones in my sig, no. The three scifi ones were designed by Andrew de Guzman. The western was done by Dara England here on KB and The Founders was designed by C.C. Kelly who's also here on KB.
That's awesome!

I prefer writing shorter, also. I like novella length. Besides my trad published novel, my biggest seller is a novella. So I'm sticking with it.
Woo hoooo!  :D Congrats, Alain!

Short fiction allowed me to quit my day job, so the future is bright! Here's hoping you have an excellent 2013.  ;)
