My increase in sales as always been slow 'n steady. No thousand units moved every month for me! I write short stories so it's self-inflicted
As a way to keep myself mentally positive I established for myself small royalty milestones. My first one ever was to just get one sale a day on ANY channel. After that it was to earn enough to pay my Netflix bill. A few more in between and now I'm heading towards my latest...
I made over $100 in royalties this month! I've been bordering for awhile, earning $50-80 every month since the summer. But December pushed me over the 3 digit mark.
Why this is significant for me?
I teach the violin privately. I charge each student $130 every month. Teaching is limiting in that I can only work during certain hours of the day. The amount I can make has a theoretical cap unless I just constantly raise my rates. If I make $130+ in royalties it's like having another student. So psychologically this is huge for me!
So for those of you stressing over a decrease in sales for the month... don't. Seriously. It all balances out in the end. Look at your entire year. Are you making the same amount now as you were at the beginning of the year? If you see a positive change, you're on the right track.
