How do you relate to a man who doesn't want you to?

Josie Sergeant has learned one thing by carving out her living from the wilds of the Canadian north: perseverance, optimism and the willingness to do what has to be done can overcome even the harshest of obstacles. Life has taught Theo Sabich, a fellow rancher from Australia, that optimism is a fool's hope.

When their beloved siblings' impetuous marriage plans pit Josie and Theo against one another to defend their families, they find more than they bargain for. And when they start seeing each other as more than enemies, they face their greatest challenge - finding the courage to reach out for happiness.

Under the northern lights, their attraction ignites beyond their control... The trouble is a one-time "no strings attached" release of passion is easier said than done when love is hanging by a thread.

Strings Attached is a contemporary m/f romance novel, set in Canada's north. It features a worn-down rancher who's given up, and the optimist who saves him.

It's sensual, but not terribly explicit (just wanted to clarify that, in case anyone is confused by the fact that I also write erotic stories). Contains one scene of animal violence and a traumatic flashback; occasional rough language.

I love Theo and Josie, and I hope you will, too!

Welcome to KindleBoards and congratulations on your book!

A brief recap of our rules follows:

--We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here

--Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it as we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information. You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice).

--While you may respond to member posts to your thread at any time, you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days. Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then.

--We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link. Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead.

--Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows. This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles! Please note that putting link information in the body of your posts constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post. For information on more ways to promote here on KindleBoards, be sure to check out this thread:

All this, and more, is included in our Forum Decorum: http://www.kboards.com/index.php/topic,36.0.html. Be sure to check it from time to time for the current guidelines and rules.

Oh, and one more thing: be sure to check out the index threads at the top of the Book Bazaar. . . .there are details there about how you can be listed so that our readers can find you.

Been about 9 days, so I think I am safe posting here.

Still scrounging for reviews for this book. Sales have been basically non-existent, but I think reviews will help this if/when I can secure some.

Also, still not available in Nook, which is frustrating - hoping that will get cleared up soon.

In good news, though, I have my nifty KB page link here, which gives you details, trailer and sample all in one nice package, without downloading anything. (Seriously, I love this feature!)

ETA: Just noticed I had already posted that link in this thread. Rats. Here's a fresh one - the book's companion site is up and running:

ETA: In other news, Strings did eventually go up on B&N for Nook:

ETA for July 1st:

Wouldn't it be grand to celebrate Canada Day by reading a Canadian book by a Canadian author, and set in Canada? Then, Strings Attached is just the ticket!

I know, I know... Shameless and awful plug. Couldn't resist. Sorry!

Strings Attached just got its first unsolicited review on Amazon (i.e. not from a book blogger to whom I sent the PDF for free).

I don't want to be creepy and thank the person directly, so I am just gonna send this out into the ether: Thanks, and I am glad you enjoyed the book. Sharing with readers is such a thrill for me, and I am so honoured someone would spend their time reading my book - and pleased it made you feel your money wasn't wasted.

I don't know if the person who left the review is a member here or not, or if they will ever see this. If not, that's fine. If so, I hope it doesn't make you feel weird.

I just needed to share the smile on my face. :D

Strings Attached got a five-star review and a "TRR Top Pick" designation. Thanks, TRR!

I am particularly thrilled that they called it a "classic contemporary romance." This was my aim, and I'm proud that it can be described this way.

"Who knew the wilds of the Canadian North would be such a romantic setting? Anne Holly apparently!"

"Bringing a quirky love story to life in her latest novel, Anne Holly's STRINGS ATTACHED will capture readers' "hopeful" romantic soul... STRINGS ATTACHED snags the readers' attention from the start. Well written with beautifully descriptive scenes and witty dialogue, Ms. Holly spins a tale of hope, redemption and love.... Ms Holly's skillful unveiling of the deeper emotional motivations of her main characters had this reader in tears - the good kind that promises hope and happy endings... A classic contemporary romance, STRINGS ATTACHED delivers a solid story. Josie and Theo's romance is well worth the read... Theirs is the kind of romance that makes you want to know what happens after "The End"!" Five Stars; A TRR Top Pick!

Some recent news:

Strings Attached received 5 stars and was declared one of the top 100 small press romances of 2011 by The One Hundred Romances Project. The reviewer, Joey, had this to say:

Prepare yourselves for one of my more nonsensical reviews, mostly because my review consists of *squee!*. This story is adorable. And sigh-inducing. And aw-inducing. And did I mention I really loved it?

It is also a featured book interview on The Romance Reviews:

Celebrate Canada Day with a purely Canadian romance!

Strings Attached

"You want to heal me, like one of your stray dogs..."

When Canadian rancher Josie Sergeant gets a call from her brother announcing his impetuous decision to marry, she has her reservations. But, when her brother's would-be brother-in-law swoops in from Australia to stop the wedding, Josie has no choice but to defend the family.

Theo Sabich is bull-headed and dangerously sexy, but also damaged beyond repair… or so he thinks. He enjoys getting on Josie's nerves, but when he finds her getting under his skin he must decide - face his demons and grab this last chance for happiness or bury himself in his lonely Outback ranch once and for all.

Under the northern lights, their attraction ignites beyond their control, and Josie finds that a one-time "no strings attached" release of passion is easier said than done when love is hanging by a thread.

But how will they bridge the difference between two worlds, let alone conquer the wounds of the past and find the courage to live again?
