So for months now my Kindle hasn't automatically loaded new purchases. Also, if I go to manage c/d and select title(s) and click deliver it does nothing. The only way to get stuff into the Kindle is to go to it and set it to show all and touch them in that list. It queues them and loads them. Nothing else works.

So I finally gave up and decided I'd reset it even though that means losing the library from it and resetting everything. Did it. Worked fine, all reset. Went to c/d and chose a dozen titles and clicked deliver. Nothing. Still had to go in the Kindle to display all and pick them there.

Really unhappy with Kindle and Amazon. Instead of participating with all the other big tech companies in politicking they need to tend to their damn business and products. Maybe it's time to learn a new universe and go to another reader that doesn't social engineer, just tends to their actual business.

See what time the Kindle thinks it is - it may be that the algorithm it uses to figure out what to download is based on when it thinks it last looks...

I've had similar problems in the past - IIRC, a reset of my router and/or a restart of the Kindle took care of the issue.

As it came back to life from the reset it first said the time was GMT and 1-2 seconds later it automatically adjusted to CST where I live so the time is correct.

I feel your pain. I've had this issue for months now, and even created my own thread for it.

I'm disappointed that a device reset didn't work for you. Like you, I've been putting that off. Now I won't bother.

Amazon really needs to get their [crap] together. (Edit: I've never tried to use profanity on Kboards before. I guess this is what happens if you do.) ;)

I'll try the clock suggestion - nothing to lose - but I'm pretty sure mine is already set correctly too.

Ok, I got my PW back from a friend. I turned on wifi and waited for it to show active. I selected the newest book in manage c/d. I said deliver to the PW. It took 2-3 seconds and there it was. I turned wifi on on the O3. I waited for it to show active. I selected the same book and said deliver. I waited 15-20 seconds and nothing. I clicked "sync" and it spun a moment and said nothing new. Once more on sync and nothing new. So apparently it doesn't affect all devices on any given account and perhaps only affects Oasis and no other models. Still majorly mad at Amazon.

I have a Paperwhite, so it's definitely not something that just affects Oasis.

Which device is your default on Amazon? I'm wondering if that has something to do with it (which makes no sense, but who knows - I'm just trying to rule everything out at this point, because this is so fucking frustrating).

My Oasis is my default. I got to a person on Amazon chat. They couldn't resolve it but did set up for a higher level tech to help me with it. In theory they will contact me in 2-3 days about it. I'll have to experiment with default to see if that does anything.

So I swapped default and with the PW as default nothing would load to either device. I put the O3 back as default so the PW is secondary and whatever broke the O3 also broke it as now nothing will load to it either. So it's wait on them to contact me and hope they can fix it or just have to load through the device by showing all items.

I am sorry to hear this has now affected two of your Kindles. :(

I tried swapping the default device - I made it Kindle Cloud Reader for a minute, since that has never loaded properly in my browser anyway, so I don't care if it "works" or not - but it made no difference when I switched the default back to Paperwhite and tried to get my latest purchase to automatically download.

With that said, I wonder if there is something glitched with the default device designation that's causing this. Your experience would seem to indicate that there may be a connection.

Please let us know what Amazon says/does for you.

I think the way to like a Kindle is to not expect anything but good reading.  It's an excellent reading device and a very clumsy storage and communications device.  I keep a few books I might read on mine and don't worry about the rest.  The automatic download is set to one of my older Kindles I rarely use so I don't know or care if it works or not.  I like to read and Kindles are great at that.

Absolutely true and a good philosophical approach.

But I fully understand the frustration of those trying to get a Kindle to behave as advertised/expected.
