• Do you guys use fonts you have purchased? - free fonts may be resold by scammers (and commercial fonts may wrongfully be advertised as free to use)
• The fonts that came with windows? - as far as I know, some windows fonts may not be used commercially (eg. times new roman)
• Your adobe software? - it is unclear to me when one is allowed to use Adobe fonts commercially
• other?
I use Calisto MT, which I bought a licence for. Or Minion Pro, which I can use since I own/licence Adobe software which grants me the right to use their fonts commercially. If you don't own/licence any Adobe software, you need to buy the font via Fontspring, IIRC.

As far as Windows bundled fonts go, you can use them commercially--if you have a Pro version of Windows. If you have Student or Home, you aren't legally free to use those fonts commercially.

Stay away from dodgy font sites, and you'll be safe as far as free fonts go.

Thank you, thank you for providing that info. It explains a problem I'm having with Kindle Previewer on my new PC.

Just to be 100% sure, do you have a link to some Microsoft info that confirms what you say about commercial font usage for Pro vs Home?

Thanks again.
Sorry, I don't. I did all my font researching and licence buying about a decade ago and haven't changed my fonts since. However, that info was direct from MS, so you can Google it.

Thanks for replying. I have tried Googling it, and unfortunately I can't find anything that specifically says that having a Windows Pro license implies that the Microsoft fonts provided with Windows can be embedded in other files such as ePub files, and used commercially in that way.

Anyway, just to be on the safe side I'm in the process of switching to a free Google font for the symbol I need.

But thanks again for replying.
I just Googled it again and will leave it here anyway.

Can I sell things I print from Windows or make using these printouts, say a book, logo, advertisement, report, t-shirt, or crafts that use fonts that come with Windows?

Unless you are using an application that is specifically licensed for home, student, or non-commercial use, we do not restrict you from selling the things you print and make using the Windows-supplied fonts.
