If I'm interested in a KDD, I try to purchase it by clicking through to Amazon from one of the sites that support indie books, like POI, ENT, and KB. Not all the KDDs get featured on these sites, but some do every day. As I understand it, Amazon has pressured these sites to advertise the KDD and to make other changes to the way they run their businesses (such as reducing their free-book offerings), under threat of being bounced out of the affiliate program. Even before Amazon did that, I wanted to support these sites, since they support me, but I feel more strongly about it now that Amazon's taken such a controlling attitude toward other people's businesses. I can do that by making purchases through them when possible, so they get a little of what I'm paying back through the affiliate program. That's how I think it works, at any rate -- I don't participate in the affiliate program myself, so if I'm misunderstanding something, maybe someone who knows more can enlighten me.Betsy the Quilter said:
And we do appreciate your support! Just so you know, the links I posted here are also our affiliate links; so you don't have to wait if you don't want to.Becca Mills said:If I'm interested in a KDD, I try to purchase it by clicking through to Amazon from one of the sites that support indie books, like POI, ENT, and KB. Well I'm glad to hear it! I know ENT did, and I think it's obnoxious on Amazon's part.Betsy the Quilter said:And we do appreciate your support!
