So my BookBub ad went out today about 11am EST, and I have to say it was well worth the $400. I've already made the money back in just a few hours.

I'm #19 overall at Barnes and Noble and I'm #12 overall at Apple. I think Amazon is down for the day because ranks haven't moved, but I've sold about 700 copies at Amazon, 800 at B&N and I don't know what at Apple, but I'm assuming it's good since my rank is so high.

Oh, also, what does "top quality content" mean? Does Bookbub have a minimum stars requirement? And how do you discount a book, exactly? Just lower the price on Amazon? It won't show up as a discount (ie, having a line through it with a lower price beneath)-- does that matter?

Yes, this is my first time to use them. I don't normally pay attention to paid promo stuff because I have my head down writing, but a friend emailed and told me I should check in to it.

I have no idea about that. You could just send them an email and ask. My romances are pretty spicy, but I plan to do one of my romantic suspenses in the next month or so.

They do look the book over and have to approve it before it'll go in the ad. And yes, it does have to meet a certain star review threshold.

I know! I'm bummed about Amazon. I'm hoping they get it fixed soon. I've sold 837 at Amazon and 840 at Barnes and Noble. I don't know about Apple but I'm ranked #10 in the overall store, still behind Fifty Shades

I chose DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS specifically because BookBub has such a large mystery/thriller audience. This is my darker mystery series, so it's very different from my romances. (not much romance and not spicy at all). I lowered the price to .99 and Amazon price-matched immediately, so I'm getting 70% there.

There's definitely a problem with Amazon's ranking, as per the bar in Amazon Central. For your sake, I hope they get it fixed soon! It must be frustrating to be having such a great day when the rankings are stuck!

Agreed. I used them to promo a Notes to Self freebie before Christmas and had a very nice run when it was over. I wish they would open up a kids' books category.
