Given that Laurel K. Hamilton and Charlaine Harris are the only authors with 50%+ in "Very Familiar" I'm guessing you ended up with a sample bias towards Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance fans.

Name recognition matters within a given interest group. It matters if golfers know the golf club manufacturers. If someone doesn't golf, who cares?

Same with books. Since I don't read romances or YA, it doesn't matter what I know about those authors. I'm not in those markets. I do know who Danielle Steele is, but that will have no effect on her sales.
