My short Christmas romance, Unwrapping Scrooge (Decadent Publishing, 2010), which had moderate success at both Amazon and ARE last December, has suddenly come alive again, though I am not sure why. I notice on Manic Readers that two review sites have checked it out, and the Kindle sales of perked up. Perhaps in the summer heat people want a nice winter story?

In any case, I'm pretty proud of this one, so I thought I would share.

Bestselling author Kale McKinnon is a modern Scrooge - eccentric, misanthropic and reclusive, made bitter by the coldness of his wealthy family. But when optimistic Canadian graduate student Molly Gillis visits Oxford and invades his space, he realizes Christmas is about to change for him forever. But can he make her stay, and force himself to un-Scrooge enough to be the right man for her?

Unwrapping Scrooge has received great reviews from Tyhada's Bookshelf and on the blogtalkradio show Must Love Books. Coffee Time Romance praised it for its "depth and truthful(ness)."

Welcome to KindleBoards, Anne, and congratulations on your book!

Please note that KindleBoards is a Readers and Kindle Fan forum. As such, self-promotion, of any sort, is ONLY allowed in the Book Bazaar.

A brief recap of our rules follows:

--Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it as we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information. You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice).

--We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here

--While you may respond to member posts to your thread at any time, you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days. Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then.

--We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link. Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead.

--Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows. This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles! Please note that putting link information in the body of your posts constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post. For information on more ways to promote here on KindleBoards, be sure to check out this thread:

All this, and more, is included in our Forum Decorum. Be sure to check it from time to time for the current guidelines and rules.

New news about Unwrapping Scrooge!

I was asked today to include this book in Decadent Publishing's Christmas anthology, Yule Be Mine, which will come out in paperback in November 2011!

So, re-reading it now for the inclusion, and happy that I finally have an idea of what to give my mum for the holidays. :)

I will update this thread when I know more about it.

I was experimented on!

http://www.kboards.com/index.php/topic,77340.0.html

A well-written, kinda touching, novella of a Canadian woman spending a year in Britain who becomes romantically involved with her somewhat nerdish land-lord, who, unbeknownst to her is a best selling author. Naturally, as this is a Romance, both Molly and Kale fight the inevitable but lose . . . somewhat erotically. And then what? Read it and find out.

"Unwrapping Scrooge" entertained me far more than I thought it would. I found it easy to place myself in the shoes of both main characters and happily went along for the ride. As with the other 6 books, the ending satisfied, and I've no doubt that Romance readers will also find this to be true-as well as non-Romance readers who want to experiment on the sly. Go for it.
Thanks, Doug!

Unwrapping Scrooge was just released in a four-novella paperback from Decadent Publishing!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1613330286/

Also, the story recently got a very nice review:

A twist and turn here and there keeps you on the edge of your seat and ready to read 'just one more page' to see where it will take you. Unwrapping Scrooge flows easily from beginning to end. There were no points in the story that lagged; it was fast-paced and enjoyable. I will certainly look for more stories by this author.
