Are there any other programs that format a paperback as easily as Vellum, or is it the only one?

It's very expensive  :(

I don't know of any. I know it's pricey, but it's been so worth it for me (I publish a lot of books). They do occasionally run sales, so it may be worth contacting the company and asking if there's a sale coming up.

I suck with software...which is why I purchased Vellum. If you get stuck let me know and I will try to give you the paperback format using mine. For free (of course).

Some just convert word with D2D. Others pay to rent through ... macincloud, I think.

I paid for the software and love it. There are limitations--like with everything--but it creates a really sharp looking product. If you produce a lot, it's a lot cheaper than paying someone to format.
