Weekend Give-Away

Yesterday I watched the She Writes webinar on promoting your self-published book. One of Howard VanEs's recommendations was to do a Weekend Give-Away--yes, giving away your book. He backed it up convincingly and I decided to give it a try. I had a problem, however, because in order to participate in this KDP Select promotion, you have to disable other outlets (i.e., Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, etc.) where your book is listed. It was no problem pausing B&N, but I found no way to de-activate Smashwords. I tried everything to no avail. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, did you find a solution?
