This is so strange, but I thought someone here might have experienced it or had it happen to them -- my cover has been changed.

I put up my first boxed set (with just me as an author) over a week ago. When I created the cover, I did both a 3-D cover and a 2-D for iTunes. When I was done, I liked the 2-D cover so much that I decided to go with it rather than the 3-D cover (which appears as part of the 2-D cover). I uploaded it to Amazon and it went live about 2 days later. The delay was because they checked my copyright. No problems -- and the 2-D cover looked great.

Yesterday I decided to look at my book listing on Amazon -- and my 2-D cover had turned into a 3-D cover. The background and type that had been part of the 2-D cover had been deleted or cropped out and only the 3-D box set part of the cover now appears. I thought it was just one of those things, but had a friend look at it on her computer, and she only saw the 3-D as well. I checked my book dashboard on KDP and the 2-D cover appears there. I checked in the "look inside the book" and the 2-D cover appears there as well. I definitely uploaded the 2-D cover -- it had been live until yesterday.

So, for whatever reason, Amazon changed my cover?!

I searched all over KDP to see if there was some requirement to use a 3-D cover for a boxed set, but couldn't find it. And if they required it, wouldn't they have =me= change it?

Can anyone explain this? Has it happened to you or anyone you know? It's just plain weird.

I actually see the 3D cover in the Look Inside.

If you're seeing 2D, maybe clear your cache and try again?
Thanks Phoenix. I cleared my cache, had my friend look, too, and we both see the 2-D cover on the Look Inside. On the closer look, it shows the 3-D.

Another thing worth mentioning is that the reason I checked my book listing yesterday is because a reviewer contacted me and said she'd reviewed this book (plus separately one of the books that is part of this box set). Her review appeared on the separate book, but hasn't yet populated on the boxed set. It's like this box set is in the Twilight Zone :)

Yep, 3D cover in both for me, too. The one on the inside even has extra text than the one on the product page.

Weird stuff.
Thanks BJ! The extra text is part of the 2D ... it has a blue-ish gray background, and repeats the text for the 2D, with the 3D image centered in the middle.

Thanks, Stacy. It's probably gradually populating then across servers and hasn't updated mine yet.

I made a screenshot of my KDP bookshelf dashboard -- and you can see it's the 2-D cover.

Definitely email support for this one. I don't like to bother them too often, but with something like this, you need them to fix it. I just can't imagine who would put so much time and energy into making a different file like this...? Sooo weird.

Kathy, the one in your dashboard is the cover on the Look Inside for me. It's just different on the product page, then. :)
That's exactly what I'm seeing too, B.J. I can't understand why Amazon would change my cover without notifying me. Originally the 2-D cover appeared on the product page.

Valerie, I'm sure you're right. I'm trying to decide whether to upload my own (larger) 3-D cover (and leave it at that) or whether to ask them to change it back. And you're right -- who would put the time and energy into changing my cover?

I seem to remember something about Amazon wanting book covers to be book covers. Oddly, this was in response to some people with 3d boxed sets. But I wonder if the "frame around an actual boxed set" was considered to be "not a cover."
Thanks, Speaker. I hadn't heard this before, but I suppose it is possible. Yet, isn't it strange that if that's the case they didn't send it back to me to change, rather than changing the image themselves?

I finally asked them to bump my concern up to a supervisor, and they did. A Customer Service Lead emailed and said he would look into it. The next night he emailed that they had updated my cover on the website. Still no word on why or how it was changed, but now the correct cover is now in place.

Reviews for the book are still not appearing, but this is progress :) I will probably have to send in a new ticket to get the review/s to appear. The review I know of is listed under Reviews on AuthorCentral and on that reviewer's review list, but doesn't appear on the book. ::sigh::

I've had the reviews issue as well. I had one review posted to .com, .co.uk and .com.au. However, only 2 of the three appeared. However, they did fix it when asked.
