What was the best day in your life?

I have three that pretty much top it:
- my baby being born
- my wedding
- my book launch (the physical one, in Portugal)

Regarding the 1st one, here's what I recently wrote when he turned 9 months!

"Now that you're in the world for as long as you were inside me, I feel like swallowing you so that we can become one again. But then I stop being selfish and become immensely happy for being able to share you. Because the world needs sweet and precious things. And because with you the world becomes, infinitely and unquestionably, a better place."

This and other short and not so short thoughts are available in my blog. For the moment they're still in Portuguese, but in a few weeks all will be translated to English. If you liked it, I'd love to have you following it!

Truthfully?

The day when I got when I got a second chance at life.   The day when I met my 2nd and current wife...12 years going on 13 years of marriage.  The day I saw my daughter's 3-D sonogram and saw her face in the monitor...they gave me a copy of her picture, I don't think I spoke for three days.  Than the day when my three kids were born.  The day when someone said to me, "I think you should write" and the day I typed, "The END" for the fist time last year.    When someone emailed me and told me, they were still alive because of what I wrote....my highlights.  Oh, one more.  I got a medal one night about almost ten years ago for risking my life to save the life of a fallen correctional officer in a prison.  That was pretty cool..
Christian, you continue to amaze me.
I signed with my first agent WHILE I was in the hospital after just having my daughter. My husband had gone home for a shower and came back with the envelope with the contract and made me open it while the lactation consultant was there...

Hard to top THAT.

Of course, that agent failed to sell my book and retired while I was busy being a mom, but I distinctly remember thinking my life was really starting to get good.

Wow! and as we say, Mashallah! (google it :p )
The best one?  The day I found out that tests came back after surgery and I was finally cancer free.

2nd best: The day the doctor told me that because it had been caught so early I should plan on eventually dying (as everyone does) from something other than breast cancer.

3rd best: The first time my future husband said "I love you".

4th: Our wedding day

5th: THe first time I held our grandson by love (we are childless by choice and never expected a baby would mean the world to us. He must have planned his battle strategy in the bassinet becuase the very first time I held him, I knew I would kill anyone who tried to harm him and that we would end up being more grandparents than either blood set who live out of state.  What a shocker for this bohemian!
1. The day my twin daughters came home from the hospital after a 69 day hospital stay in the NICU - they were born at 27w3d.

2. This one is a tie between my wedding day and the day we found out I was pregnant.
The day my children were born, hands down.  Not without being balanced by the fear I felt the day I brought the oldest home and thought, "What do I do now?" - followed by the day my oldest asked his brother to be his Best Man (aka the day I realized that although they fought when young, they are now best friends).
Gotta go with the day I was born.

Big day for me.
Every day I got to spend with my sister, and the day I decided to start writing.

Years ago I wasn't making much money, but I got a really big bonus I wasn't expecting because the owner was selling the business and wanted to take care of the people who'd been loyal. That night, I stayed late and so did this receptionist. I banged her on the conference room table....What? I'm shallow and self-centered. Yeah, okay, my wedding day was pretty good and walking my daughter down the aisle, but I figured I'd go with something OTHER than the obvious choices..
Early in my very first pregnancy, I had bleeding and was subsequently told that I had miscarried. I still had symptoms and believed that the doctors were wrong, but try telling doctors that. ::) They suggested I get a D&C to take care of remaining tissue. I refused against medical advisement ("you will get infections and die a horrible death!"). It took a while for anyone to listen to me long enough to get a proper ultrasound ordered.

I was about ten weeks pregnant when I finally got the sonogram, so my son looked like a gummy bear on the monitor. He waved his little arm-flippers and we listened to his heartbeat and I cried because my baby wasn't dead after all. It put an end to weeks of dark depression and misery, plus, adorable gummy bear baby. You know.

Yup.
Wow, that put tears in my eyes.

Oh, my.... *wipes tear from eye* I admire your strength to follow your instincts.

Clear win all around.

Holy. Crap. That is one of the best things I've ever read.
Today is the greatest
Day I've ever known

I honestly can't recall having a best day ever. Good news or bad news, I hardly ever experience emotional highs of any sort.
You guys are sweet. I had a pretty difficult pregnancy from start to finish, but it all turned out just fine in the end. And look at how cute my little miscarriage turned out!

Those pics are over a year old. He's a tyrannical two year old now, and just this amazing, sparkling hurricane of a personality.

I want another one, but I don't know if I can suffer through pregnancy again (and the doctors...oy).

so cute! my niece had something similar with her 2nd pregnancy. I think it's a miracle when they say "nope, nothing there" and there is. take that medical establishment.

Oh, he's so adorable! That was a very touching story you shared. I'm glad that you defied the doctors and everything turned out well in the end.
