Which books have you bought most recently?

I bought two books for Kindle today.

The first is With the Kisses of His Mouth by Monique Roffey. She's one of my favourite UK authors and I've read all of her novels so I decided to get this. It's nonfiction and has been quite controversial due to the openness about women's sexuality.

The second is NW by Zadie Smith. Again, she's a top UK author but I've only read White Teeth by her. This one was highly criticised as she tried a completely different style so I'm curious. Most people prefer On Beauty and Autograph Man. I'd like to read them all. But NW is set in my area of London, so maybe I'll disagree with the critics and like it.

What have you bought very recently?

On the right side of Facebook they often have recommended books, $2-3.  I've read several.  I've listed >1000 books I have and am going back over some favorite authors and looking into some of their other books.  Often I read a highly reccomended book and will go back and read all the books the author has written.  Having read @15 Alex Cross's, I am currently reading Alex Cross #1 on my way to get up to date.  I have a dozen Dick Francis to catch up with, he & Ludman are making good money for dead guys.
I've been into biographies lately.  One is about the life of Chopin and the other is the story of a very charming bank robber in Hungary.  Both are a nice, refreshing change for me.
That's interesting about Facebook recommendations. I hadn't noticed them and will now.

I love biographies, especially about Victorians for some reason. Which reminds me I also really enjoyed two biographical fiction novels by David Lodge - Author, Author (Henry James) and A Man of Parts (about HG Wells). Both were excellent.

I have bought more books than I can read at the moment. Waiting on my Kindle are also The News Where You Are by Catherine O'Flynne, Girl in White by Sue Hubbard (which is low priced compared to the others I've bought recently). I also have Secrets of the Foothills, a short story collection by Michael C Cordell which might be free.

I seem to be buying more books than I can read but I'll get round to them all. ;)
Progeny by Patick Greene,
ASBO by Iain Rob Wright
3rd Sight by Ian Woodhead
Live and Let Die by Ian Fleming
After Shock by Scott Nicholson

I never used to have a queue like that...then I get a Kindle...
Yes, well we can buy everything we fancy without cluttering up our homes.... It's amazing how a Kindle leads to this addiction.
I took of advantage of a couple deals and picked up Flee by J.A. Konrath and Ann Voss Peterson and First to Kill by Andrew Peterson.  I guess I wanted some action in my life.

Today I bought "I, Michael Bennett" by James Patterson. I love this series and the price finally dropped so I jumped on it. Yesterday I bought "Sing you Home" by Jodi Picoult since it was only $3.99 and I also got "Maid for Love"  by Marie Force. It was free and recommended by a friend. That's it....til the next temptation comes along!
It's very tempting to pick up the deals while they're available, especially now I've started browsing by category in my favourite genres. But I also want to make time for the authors I most want to read. Zadie Smith and Ali Smith are two. Two great Smiths!
Recently bought Plum Island (John Corey) by Nelson DeMille. It's been on my to-read list for a while, and I figured it was about time I got it.

Zadie Smith is great, no doubt about it. I was hoping for her new one for Christmas, but no such luck...

Mind you, I did get books by Iain Banks, Alan Sillitoe, Ramsey Campbell and Julian Barnes, plus one about Greek mythology, so I shouldn't complain!
I recently bought : The Mark of Athena..  Really wonderful and exciting book
and yesterday I bought : A Memory of Light (Wheel of Time) but haven't read it yet

On a kindling frenzy at the moment. My most recent was an illustrated Pickwick Papers - I wanted to read it in serialised form but it looks like I missed the boat. It's been at least a couple of years since I read it anyway. It's my favourite book.
The poisonwood bible and the snow child were my last 2
Do people share their 'wish lists' on Amazon to try to get Kindle books as presents? I create a wish list but forget to share it.

Well, you could. I don't. It's just for my use.
