I'm full of questions the past few days  :)
So here's another one: If I do a significant update to my paperback cover, is there any chance that customers will be sent a copy with the old cover, if KDP already printed a bunch of copies with the old cover?? Will Amazon try and get rid of the old cover version before printing copies with the new cover? I am concerned by the possibility of customers being disappointed, if they receive the old cover (which is much less nice). Anyone have any experience with this?

I have had books that I published in print via IngramSpark where it looked like Amazon had purchased a few copies for their inventory that they had to work through before they could sell the new version. If you're publishing through KDP Print this is probably less likely to happen unless you've been selling well and it's around the holidays in which case they sometimes do pre-print copies.

But in general because it's print on demand this shouldn't be an issue.

Then you have two choices: Let the next x number of customers get the old version or buy out the inventory they have yourself.
