I got an email solicitation "inviting" me to participate. I don't even know how I ended up on a mailing list to get that, but I just shook my head and deleted it.

I have no problem with places offering affiliate programs. There is nothing unethical about them offering an affiliate program. What is unethical is charging $2000 (minimum) to self publish a book.
