YouTube Was A Game Changer For Me

Because of the topics I cover (History and the Bible), I decided to start teaching lessons on PowerPoint. Some of the results were very unexpected. Please keep in mind that I do not have a college degree to teach anything.

1) My book sales went from an average of $100 per day to $175 per day.

2) My Patreon went from $625 per month to $900 per month

3) My website Adsense went from $72 per month to $300+

4) My YouTube income went from $0 to $400+ per month.

This led me to a few simple revelations that should've been more obvious.

1) YouTube is like a classroom and my books are like course curriculum.

2) Every class needs worksheets.

It was revelation #2 that led me to opening up an Etsy store with downloadable and printable worksheets. These are only priced at $2.99 each, but I make $2.10 per sale, and it brings in roughly $400 per month. The best part is that it's fully automated.

3) Every school has apparel to encourage unity and school spirit.

So I started building my Teespring store to launch once my YouTube subscribers hit 10k, and I'm very close to 10k.

I use to HATE English class when I was in school. I hated having to write, but found myself writing when I got bored. I loved taking notes, reading history, etc. I HATED school in general. It feels kinda ironic that after loathing school all those years, I'm basically building an online school in order to help further my writing career and financial independence.

Hopefully this will help somebody with some ideas on how to get more sales and make more money all around.

Congrats: You are probably losing money on adsense. For every penny you make you could be making a dollar pushing a product in your niche.
Not at all. I only promote my own books in my niche. Adsense brought in $450 this month without me doing anything. I'm not even remotely interested in dealing with advertising, sponsors, or other people's products.

Congrats, OP!
I think it's a great idea to get income from sources other than Amazon (or the other vendors if wide) if you can.

I've always been curious about Patreon--what do authors tend to offer the people that support them, usually?
