Synopsis Critique - $15
First Chapter Critique - $20
Pitch Critique - 3 for $10 or 5 for $15

We are currently running a summer special on our packages! Purchase one editing package and get another free. That is two manuscripts for the price of one! This will run until our slots fill up through the rest of the summer. Open as of May 30, 2018

Package 1:
Developmental and Content Editing - $2.00 per page
Includes 1 round of each level of editing.
Developmental Edits: The editor will read the manuscript, in its entirety, and compose an editorial letter (or email) that will address the big picture issues such as plot, world-building, characterization, pacing, etc. The author is sent this DEs letter (or email) and given a deadline to implement these changes and rewrites.
Content Edits: This is the longest and most labor-intensive stage of editing. When the editor receives the manuscript back after the author has implemented the DEs, they will go through it, line-by-line using Microsoft Track Changes to point out inconsistencies, plot holes, dialogue issues, basic grammar, etc.

Package 2:
Copy Editing - $1.50 per page
Copy Editing: The editor, also using Track Changes, will go through, line-by-line, and fix any issues with grammar, punctuation, etc.

Package 3:
Proofreading - $1.00 per page
Proofreading: This is the final read through on the manuscript to look for any minor issues. Any changes that are made will be sent to the author for final approval.

* All edits are done using Microsoft Track Changes
* All packages are non-refundable
* Prices are based on standard format of 1" margins, 12-point Times New Roman Font, double spaced
* Payment plans available
* Hiring a professional editor does not guarantee that you will sign with an agent or publisher after completion.

Proofreading: $0.004/word
Proofreading looks for any typos, misspellings, and grammatical errors.

Copy Editing: $0.006/word
Copy editing is done on the final draft and I look for grammatical and spelling errors, typos, incorrect word usage, sentence structure as well as verify facts, query inconsistencies, make recommendations for awkward phrasing, and assess the overall readability of the manuscript.

Final Pass: $125
The Final Pass is the last step before publication. With this service I look for typos, missing words, homophones, double words, misspellings, etc. If at any point I feel your manuscript needs more than a Final Pass, I will notify you immediately so you can decide whether you'd like to proceed with a proofread or copy edit instead.

PACKAGES
Basic Package $0.009/word
This package includes copy editing and proofreading.

Pro Package $0.016/word
This package includes developmental editing, which deals with the big picture, the organization and presentation of content, story arc, characters, and pacing. As always, we work very closely with the author during this process to be sure to maintain the author's voice. Following the developmental edit, the manuscript will go through the copy editing and proofreading stages.

Jenn at Harris Hill Book Services shares my three most important values: professionalism, accuracy, and reliability. I recommend using her services.
SM Reine
New York Times & USA Today Bestselling Author

I've been using Harris Hill Book Services for a little over a year, and in that time, they have proofed several of my novels and have corrected hundreds of errors. It's definitely good to know that I can depend on them to find the mistakes that my eyes simply can't see. I would recommend them without reservation.

When I first talked to Jenn about looking at my manuscript I was nervous. I didn't want her to give me a horrible review. When I received back her detailed critique, I was very grateful I had asked for her help. She showed me where I hadn't developed my characters enough, where my story line was weak and dragging. And talking with her and reviewing her critique gave me so many new ideas I could use to strengthen my story and characters. I was excited to work on my manuscript again.

I have worked with Jenn for over 10 years and she has a tremendous work ethic. She is very easy to get along with, strives for perfection, and is very proactive.

I have known Jennifer for three years and have worked with her on several projects. I have found her to be honest, dependable, and professional in her approach to everything she does, all while being a pleasure to work with. I have also gotten to know Jennifer personally and have found her to be very kind, considerate, and pleasant.

Thank you for your formatting and editing help. I couldn't have gotten it this far without you.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME:

I started as a freelance editor and proofreader over 15 years ago. I have worked with numerous authors editing works of fiction and nonfiction.

My love of the written word was the motivation for the creation of my business. From the time I was a very young child I have been captivated by the magic of a good story. I learned early on that a well-written book had the ability to form and transform my opinions, transport me to new places, and introduce me to characters and worlds beyond my imagination. In my early teens I wrote my first novel, and while you won't ever find that book on a best-seller list, it cemented my relationship with the written word and was the catalyst for my chosen profession.

I am in awe of the power that words hold. The ability of well-placed words to spark debate, comfort grief, create joy, induce fear, incite war, and proffer peace, while triggering a host of human emotions, has taught me to honor those words and treat them with tremendous respect.

It is my hope that if you find yourself with a story to tell, characters to introduce to the world, thoughts and ideas fighting to escape onto paper, that you will allow me to help you realize your dreams.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Happy Writing!

Jennifer Harris
