Last week I ran a 99cent Countdown Deal on Book 1 of my new serial romance. Four of the six books are out and priced at $2.99 per book. (I originally scheduled a Fussy Librarian ad to kick the whole thing off, 30 days exactly after I published Book 1. Great, except Amazon wouldn't let me do the countdown deal until Day 31 because you have to be enrolled in Select for 30 days and THEN you can start the Countdown. Total bummer. Emailed several different times in the hopes they would see my point, but alas, I had to reschedule the FL ad.)
I used Genre Pulse on Saturday, nothing on Sunday (it was SuperBowl Sunday and figured people would be busy watching game and Sundays are traditionally the day I see my most borrows of the week anyway), Bknights on Monday, Awesome Gang on Tuesday. Genre Pulse and Bknights were almost the same in terms of results, Awesome Gang pretty much sucked.
As you will see, this wasn't a gangbuster promotion. My book is a contemporary romance I launched on the downlow with a pen name and zero promotion. Haven't even told my nonfiction readers it exists (which is killing me, because I have a strong platform there) with a professionally designed cover, edited copy and a good blurb. It has 15 reviews, 4.8 average. The serial launched Jan. 1 and will be complete in March.
Anyway, my results are below. For comparison, I first list my sales/borrows the week prior to the promotion.
